The Lighhouse at the Cove

 

The Lighthouse at the Cove, by Amy Clipston, opens with Kaiah Ross traveling through coastal North Carolina.  She is a travel journalist documenting great spots for her readers to visit.  Her car suddenly indicates that all is not well.  As Kaiah slowly drives into Coral Cove looking for a car repair shop, she has no idea what she will encounter!

Kaiah’s first thought is that this town looks like one out of a storybook.  After she gets her car set up for repair, she meets Reid Turner, her uber driver, and she cannot turn her eyes away.  This handsome man has lived in Coral Cove his entire life and is also a full-time firefighter.  Kaiah knows she will not be able to forget this man anytime soon.  Kaiah simply describes him as Mr. Tall, Dark and Handsome, TDH for short!

Unfortunately or maybe not, Kaiah has a lengthy stay in town until her car is repaired.  When Kaiah volunteers to help prepare for the town’s annual festival, she and Reid end up spending a lot of time together.  Before you know it, it seems as if something may be going on between these two!

When Kaiah’s car is finally repaired, she must make a tough decision.  Will she move ahead with opportunities to further her writing career or stay in Coral Cove with this man she has come to love?  It is fun to see the ending of this tale!  

Best-Kept Secrets

 

Best-Kept Secrets is another fun tale from Sarah M. Eden.  In spite of her family’s potential loses to their financial standing, Eve O’Doyle and her sister Nia plan to attend a Christmastime house party.  Hopefully, this will be a fun time with their friends in The Huntresses group.  Duke Seymour is called upon to escort the O’Doyle sisters to the party.  All are surprised to find the Duke’s grandmother along for the ride!

When this group gets held up in an abandoned inn during a rainstorm, it is interesting to see how everyone pitches in to provide what is needed.  Eva does the cooking, Nia makes sure the bedchambers are presentable and Duke runs cover to keep his grandmother in the dark.  Because if the Grand Dame knew what was going on, she would definitely not be pleased.  After a rather miserable journey, no one is available to pick up his grandmother, so he must continue on with the group to the holiday party!

You will not believe the anger and fighting that the Seymour family brings to this lighthearted gathering of young people.  You also wonder if the warmth you see growing between Eve and Duke will become something long-lasting!

It is interesting to see where each character ends up by the final page of this tale!

A Wager with the Matchmaker

 

A Wager with the Matchmaker, by Jody Hedlund, is the third tale in her A Shanahan Match series.  Alannah Darragh is working as a maid in the O’Brien home.  She is surprised when she learns her brother has acquired a matchmaker to find her a husband.  Alannah has no interest in marriage; however, you soon will get a sense that the matchmaker has his eye on an interesting individual as her future mate.  Kiernan Shanahan, her employer’s brother!

After Kiernan offers Alannah an opportunity to work at his family’s estate, you get the sense that his mother is not happy with the situation.       

Not only does Alannah have to work long hours for a mother not happy about her presence, but the matchmaker shows up and makes a bet with Alannah involving Kiernan!

When the matchmaker also makes a bet with Kieran about his future bride, you realize this matchmaker is rather crafty himself.  He sees the potential between these two; however, it may take some time before Alannah and Kiernan see that their match is meant to be!

To Light the Way Forward

 

To Light the Way Forward, by Nancy Naigle, is an interesting tale set in a small town on Whelk’s Island, North Carolina.  Tug Basnight owns a simple oceanfront diner on these sandy shores.  He is lonely after the loss of his best friend, Maeve; however, when a hurricane shows up, Tug’s life is definitely affected!

When Rosemary leaves for a trip to Whelk’s Island to visit her friend, she hopes the storm will not arrive while she is there.  Unfortunately, her wish is not fulfilled!

The final storyline involves Paul and Amanda.  They each have active lives on Whelk’s Island.  Paul had been best friends with Amanda’s late husband.  You see a potential relationship forming between these two; however, first they must survive the storm barreling down on them!

It is interesting to see how these four not only survive the storm, but also to see what direction each takes as they find their way in the world left behind!

Sunrise Reef

 

Sunrise Reef, by Irene Hannon, introduces Bren Ryan on the opening pages of this latest Hope Harbor tale.   After Bren notices an odd odor in her rental unit, she unfortunately learns that there is actually a fire starting to burn inside the walls.  Now Bren must find other living arrangements for the next month!

Fred, a customer who frequents the local coffee shop where she works, offers Bren housing in the guest cottage on his property.  She jumps at this great offer.  However, late one evening, the owner’s son, Noah Ward, shows up out of the blue.  He decides  to just sleep in his father’s guest cottage.  As he enters the cottage in the dark of the night, Noah is greeted by pepper spray!

This is a fun tale to follow as Bren and Noah get to know each other much better.  Starting with an amazing kiss!

To Kiss a Knight

 

To Kiss a Knight, by Grace Hitchcock, opens with Vivienne Poppy actually running away from both her family and a possible marriage of convenience.  The only problem is that she runs right into the arms of a masked man, whom Vivienne automatically assumes is a highwayman!

This man is actually Sir Sebastian Larkby, a man currently on a mission for the Prince Regent.  After he completes this work, he escorts Vivienne to her home in Bath.  She later shows up in society as “Mrs. Larkby”, her pen name as an author.  Sebastian (who goes by Bash when he is working for the Prince) is surprised that someone may be claiming to be his wife.  He sets out to end this falsehood!

When news of a Mrs. Larkby reaches Sebastian’s elderly grandmother, he knows he must take action he is not ready for.  His grandmother now has a renewed reason to stay alive.  The possibility of a great-grandchild!

Hold tight as you see how Vivienne responds when she learns that Sebastian is actually Bash.  The unthinkable takes place as Bash’s cousin suddenly comes on scene to send Bash’s grandmother to an asylum and then claim ownership of Bash’s family home!

This is definitely a tale well worth reading!

The Tides of Time

 

The Tides of Time, by Sarah M. Eden, tells a tale about Lili Minet, a young woman living in France during the height of the French Revolution.  She has already helped seventy-two individuals escape certain death.  Lili now has a bounty on her head and needs to escape these shores as soon as possible!

As Lili leads another family to safety, she senses they are being followed by Agent Geraud Gagnon, a man who seeks her demise.  Sadly, he is also her brother.  Lili allows Geraud to chase her until this family is safely aboard a departing ship and hidden out of sight.  Unfortunately, Lili arrives at the dock to find the ship had left without her.  Moments after she climbs on a fishing boat, Lili learns her brother had followed her onboard.  In the midst of a massive storm, she is swept overboard.  Lili is suddenly in the year 1873!

It is interesting to watch as Lili and Armitage Pierce,the lighthouse keeper who rescues her from the sea, try to find their way in this strange situation.  Once Lili realizes she has jumped ahead eighty years, she must learn to function in this new world!

You have no idea what will happen when her brother, Geraud, shows up just weeks behind Lili.  You will also be surprised to see what happens when Lili and Armitage continue to travel through the Tides of Time!

Snapdragons

 

Snapdragons, by Sarah M. Eden, introduces Niles Greenberry, a man who is trying to avoid being forced to marry Miss Penelope Seymour.  Nile’s grandfather has been attempting to make this match; however, Nile is not sure at all about this woman from Ireland!

As Nile is seeking refuge with his close friend, Digby Layton, a fellow member of the Gents, Penelope and her brother, Liam, suddenly appear on the scene.  Niles had been conversing with Penelope by letter; however when he sees her face-to-face, he is astounded by her beauty.  Unfortunately, this does not draw him any closer toward making a commitment!

As you see Penelope and Niles begin to develop feelings for each other, you know a miracle will be needed to bring these two together, as they each have dreams of owning and living on their own property!

Hold tight to see if anything can bring these two together!

Snowdrops and Winterberry

 

Snowdrops and Winterberry , by Sarah M. Eden, tells of Adam, the Duke of Kielder, visiting Lord Jonquil and his wife.  He is only eight years old and this is his first trip following the death of his father.  One thing that brings Adam comfort is that his beloved nurse, Robbie, is traveling with him!

When Howard Simpkin, a builder of gardens, arrives at Brier Hill to build a garden for the Jonquils, you have no idea what will transpire between him, Adam and his nurse!

You will soon notice warm feelings growing between Robbie and Howard.  You have no idea how this will affect the young Duke.  It is also fun to watch a relationship bud between Lord Jonquil, his wife and the Duke!

You hope all these people who love this young man will help him grow in this world he has been placed!

Marshaling Her Heart

 

Marshaling Her Heart, by Mary Connelly, brings her Wyoming Sunrise series to a close.  Becky Pruitt has been working closely with Nate Paxton, her ranch’s foreman.  Nate is a former U.S. Marshal and wants to use her ranch as a staging area for other Marshals to try to bring down the Deadeye Gang.  Becky is not so sure of this plan!

However, after Becky’s father attacks her and she suspects he might be involved with this gang, she knows she needs help.  Soon, Nate and Becky are traveling with the Marshals who are following behind a group they believe to be the Deadeye gang.  Their target seems to be a train carrying a gold shipment!

After the marshals capture the majority of the Deadeye gang and stop the robbery from taking place, Becky’s father is absolutely fuming.  All he can focus on is getting his hands on his daughter.  When Becky is grabbed as she is riding for home, you wonder if she will survive!

This is an interesting tale to follow until the very last page!

The Laws of Attraction

 

The Laws of Attraction, by Mary Connealy, opens with a “little boy” heading into Nell Armstrong’s dress shop looking for a place to hide.  When his father, Brand Nolte, comes in not far behind, Nell learns that this child is not a boy but rather a girl!

Samantha Nolte is actually soon to turn sixteen years old, while her younger sisters, Cassandra and Michaela, are thirteen and seven years old.  Brand has his hands full in deciding how to raise his young daughters.  It seems that Nell has arrived on the scene in just the nick of time!

Not only is Nell hired to sew new dresses for these sisters, she will soon become so much more in their world.  When Samantha is attacked on their family farm by a member of a deadly gang, you wonder how the lives of this family will change.  Will Nell help to bring some normalcy to their world?

Forged in Love

 

Forged in Love, by Mary Connealy, opens with Mariah Stover traveling with father and older brother.  The stagecoach is attached by a group of robbers.  Unfortunately, after fighting diligently with their own weapons, all three are shot.  Mariah is the only one to make it out alive!

Clint Roberts, who owns a diner in town, had been waiting for Mariah to arrive in town.  When he learns of the fate of the stagecoach, he heads out to discover Mariah’s fate.  Clint finds her trapped under the coach!

Once they transport her to town and discover she is still alive, the sheriff tells a select few that they must hide her away to keep her safe from the robbers.  The easiest spot is above Clint’s diner.  Once Mariah starts feeling better, she decides to return to her work in her father’s forge.  This lets everyone in town know she is still alive.  When her first day back in the forge results in an unexpected explosion and after Mariah is bit by a rattlesnake, you think the robbers may be trying to keep her silent!

You wonder if they will ever discover the individual who is behind all these attempts on Mariah’s life!

Break My Fall

 

Break My Fall, by Lynn H. Blackburn, introduces Dr. Meredith Quinn.  As she works out of her mobile dental van in the rural mountains of western North Carolina, Meredith finds herself in some very interesting situations.  One evening when she is heading home, after visiting a patient in the mountains, she suddenly finds herself out of gas!

Grayson Ward, the local sheriff, drives up behind her and discovers that her tire was deliberately punctured.  He is definitely concerned that Meredith may be the target of someone up to no good!

Even though Meredith promises not to leave home alone in the future, Gray cannot let her out of his sight.  In order to keep her safe from the nearby drug dealing criminals, he becomes her constant companion.  Gray even ends up going to a wedding, filled with many individuals of this criminal element, to keep her safe!

When Meredith and Gray finally leave the wedding, you know it will not be long before bullets start flying.  You just hope they will survive the madness!

Claiming the Cowgirl

 

Claiming the Cowgirl, by Jody Hedlund, tells the story of Serena Taylor.  She must find a husband and she is using a list to help her focus on her selection.  After Serena’s husband died this past summer, she is heading back to her family’s home in Oklahoma.  After her father-in-law tried to take custody of her 2-year-old son, Serena’s number one priority is to find a safe man to build a life with!

When Serena’s stops in Fairplay, Colorado along the way, you will be surprised at what happens in this town.  Shortly after Serena adds Weston Oakley to her list of possible husbands, his housekeeper actually declares to one of his brothers that they are married!

Before you know it, Serena and Weston are traveling to his family’s ranch to celebrate Christmas.  It will be interesting to see what comes of this quick marriage, without really knowing each other first!

This is an interesting novella to follow, especially when her former father-in-law shows up in town!
