Second Time Around

 















Second Time Around, by Melody Carlson, opens with Mallory Farrell attending her daughter’s wedding alone, due to her long-time boyfriend deciding he needed to move on.  After all the festivities, Mallory heads back to her quiet fixer-upper home!


She had recently learned that her grandmother left her a tourist shop as an inheritance.  When Mallory heads to the beach she knew as a teenager, she crosses paths with Grayson Matthews, formerly Todd Matthews, the handsome lifeguard many of her acquaintances had been in love with.  After Grayson offers to buy the tourist shop, Mallory is not sure what direction to take.  Now she has a decision to make!


When Mallory decides to hold onto the property, she soon learns that she has a monster job of restoration on her hands.  A friend in town introduces her to a contractor, so Mallory is ready for the work to begin.  When this contractor turns out to be a disaster, watch as Grayson steps in to save the day!

Miss Newbury’s List, by Megan Walker, tells of Rosalind Newbury as she prepares for her upcoming wedding.  One item is slowing her down.  As a child, she created a list of ten things to complete before she gets married.  Rosalind knows of only one person, her best-friend Liza, who can help her accomplish this before her big day.  When Rosalind arrives at Liza’s doorstep, she finds that no visitors are welcome!


When Rosalind learns from Liza that the house is closed due to her cousin, Charlie, having caused a ruckus in London, she knows she must tackle the list alone.  As Rosalind attempts to fulfill the first item, to swim by herself, thankfully Charlie is nearby and saves her life when she begins to drown!


One down with nine to go, it is interesting to see who helps her complete the list.  It is even more interesting to see how her life changes completely by the final page of this book!

The Best Intentions is another interesting tale from Sarah M. Eden!


A party is taking place in the home of Artemis and Charlie Jonquil.  One of their guests, Gillian Phelps, is not sure what to expect at this gathering.  She has had a rough introduction into English society.  Now Gillian hopes for good results with this group of Jonquil friends.  At the last minute, Scott Sarvol joins the party.  His entrance seems to catch Gillian unawares!


Scott, originally from America, has inherited an estate in England; however, he does not have the funds for the upkeep.  Watch as these new acquaintances come together to find a solution to both Gillian and Scott’s troubles!

Before Catherine can get her bearings in this new world, she finds herself marrying Dylan.  In the confusion of Catherine’s entrance, Dylan mistakenly assumes she is the mother of his son!


Catherine and Dylan slowly warm up to the idea of their marriage.  However, you wonder how Dylan will respond when the truth is finally brought to light!

Cold Light of Day is the first tale in Elizabeth Goddard’s Missing in Alaska series.  Autumn Long is going about a typical day as police chief of a small town in Alaska, when she suddenly sees a woman struggling in the frigid waters of Lewis Inlet.  Autumn is relieved when she sees a man sprinting into action.  This incident has brought back the nasty memory of her mother’s drowning years ago!


Grier Brenner, a newcomer in town, is the man who came to the rescue.  He may be the town hero today; however, Autumn senses Grier is hiding something from her. When unexplained dead bodies begin showing up, Autumn and Grier jump in to determine what is going on!
