Double Take

 

Double Take, by Lynette Eason, is another tale full of action.  Lainie Jackson is traveling in the hills of North Carolina in the midst of a rainstorm, when someone suddenly runs her off the road.  This man looks exactly like her dead fiancé, Adam!  

Detective James Cross is busy handling an angry man who has a gun and is holding his family hostage.  When James is shot in his efforts to save the child, he ends up in the hospital being cared for by physician assistant, Lainie.  James and Laine had initially met years ago, so this may prove to be an interesting reunion!

When Lainie keeps finding clues that could only be sent by Adam, she fears that he may still be alive.  Watch as James helps her search for answers.  It is interesting when you finally learn the truth about all these strange sightings!

Committing to the Cowgirl, by Jody Hedlund, begins her Colorado Cowgirls series.  Astrid Nilsson has arrived back in FairPlay, Colorado.  As a doctor, she is looking to join an established practice in her hometown.  However, when she enters the front door of the doctor’s office she is surprised.  Astrid comes face to face with Logan Steele, her first true love!

Dr. Logan Steele is in a quandary.  His dying mother wants him to marry while she is still alive.  He suggests to Astrid that they date on a trial basis and in exchange, Logan will give her a chance to work work alongside him as his partner.  Astrid has absolutely no idea how this situation will ever turn out to her benefit!

When Astrid tells an old beau that she and Logan are engaged, this situation becomes even more complicated.  After Logan’s mother spreads news of their ‘fake’ engagement all over town, they know they are in trouble.  You will be surprised to see where Astrid and Logan land by the end of this tale!

Love Unscripted, by Denise Hunter, introduces Chloe Anderson on the opening pages.  Chloe’s debut novel is heading for the big screen.  She cannot believe it when the actor chosen to portray the leading man in her story is all over the tabloids as a womanizer.  After a photograph of Chloe and this actor, Liam Hamilton, shows up in the papers, Chloe knows she has a problem on her hands!

When Liam’s publicist suggests that they actually start “secretly” dating to temper down the gossip, Chloe cannot believe it when she agrees.  When they decide to limit the number of people who know about this setup, Liam and Chloe feel like they will be able to keep their secret safe.  However, it is definitely easier said than done!

How will Chloe respond when another secret she has been protecting for years suddenly comes to light?  Will the fragile relationship between Chloe and Liam survive this madness?  This is definitely a tale that will keep your interest until the final page!

Countdown, by Lynette Eason, brings together paramedic Raina Price and US Marshall Vincent Covelli.  Vincent has been drawn to Raina from the moment they meet.  She is absolutely beautiful; however, she seems to being holding something back.  Raina does have secrets from her past that could hurt anyone who would draw near to her!

When it appears that danger from Raina’s former life has resurfaced, she asks Vincent to assist her  with tracking done the man who left her world in shambles years ago.  He beat Raina so severely that she had to be hospitalized.  Afterwards, she had to go into hiding and change everything in her world.  In current day when someone tries to poison Raina, she and Vincent jump into high gear to identify and stop this person !

After their enemy starts trying to take them out with multiple gunshots, you know the game has taken a serious turn.  Hold tight for a high energy conclusion to this fast-paced tale!

Healing Hearts for the Holidays, by Anneka R. Walker, Julia Hunt’s sister Ivy has married a man her father cannot accept.  When Julia and Esmond, Ivy’s brother-in-law, find some hidden letters, they discover the real reason for the conflict between their families.  Hold tight for a Christmas miracle!

A Christmas Correspondence, by Sarah L. McConkie, is a novella that tells a tale similar to A Christmas Carol.  Mr. John Charleston journeys to London to deliver important information to Lady Caroline Morleigh.  Somehow John survives Caroline’s difficult personality and finds himself traveling with her to his home.  You wonder if Caroline’s personality will make a turn in a positive direction after spending time with John and his family.  Will they all experience a Merry Christmas?

Christmas Forevermore opens with A Family Christmas, by Sally Britton.  Early one winter morning Jane Allen is accosted by her two young cousins.  She works are as a paid companion to these girls grandmother; however, Jane always has time for fun.  As she prepares to run out into the snow with the youngsters, Jane runs headlong into Cyril Grant.  Watch what happens as Jane attempts to help Cyril, who has lived in the Caribbean for years, fit in with his family.  Cyril will bond with more than just his family by the end of this tale!

The next tale is Christmas Forevermore, by Sarah Eden.  You meet Minna Schofield on the first page.  Her father had left her with enough money to support herself in her single state; however, a London busybody has declared that she will find a husband for Minna by Christmas Day.  This woman has set up three candidates as potential mates.   As you wonder what Minna will think of these men, you are introduced to her dear friend Rupert Crawford.  You wonder if anything with develop between these old friends.  This is a fun tale by an awesome author!

Christmas at Cranfield, by Ashtyn Newbold, opens with Hannah Somerton yet again trying to keep her crush on her best friend, Samuel Merchant, a secret from her family.  She has not seen Samuel in four long years; however, when she finally arrives at Cranfield, Hannah learns that Samuel is soon to be married.  You will be surprised by how this delightful tale ends!

A Thrill of Hope, by Karen Thornell, wraps up this book filled with Christmas novellas.  Isabel Reid is planning a trip.  She is surprised when Mr. Collingham’s son, Robert, shows up to deliver her to her destination .  After some rough weather, Isabel and Robert finally arrive at her aunt’s house.  Soon they both realize her aunt is intent on some matchmaking.  As Isobel and Robert interact with each other in and about her aunt’s home, you wonder if Isobel has discovered a new friend to help cover the hardships she has experienced in her life!

An Inconvenient Letter

 

An Inconvenient Letter, by Julie Wright, introduces Marietta Stone on the opening page of this tale.  This young woman has secretly been in love with Frederick Finch for years and she has poured out her heart on paper.  However, when these letters are accidentally sent to Frederick’s home, all Marietta can think of is retrieving  these items before they end up in the wrong person’s hands!

Those hands end up being Frederick’s cousin, Gerald Hartwell.  This gentleman man is looking for a way to financially save his late father’s estate and these letters look like the perfect opportunity.  Gerald hopes to make some kind of bargain with Marietta!

You wonder what will happen when Gerald suddenly wants this pretend romance to be something very real.  This is definitely a tale not to be missed!
