The Second Story Bookshop

 

The Second Story Bookshop, by Denise Hunter, opens with Shelby Thatcher adjusting to the death of her beloved grandmother.  Things get even more difficult when she learns that her grandmother left her bookstore to both Shelby and her former boyfriend, Grayson Briggs.  When her best friend refers to him with the phrase “holy cannoli”, Shelby knows she may be in trouble!

When Gray offers to hang around to help Shelby adjust to the financial details involved with running the bookstore, she reluctantly agrees.  Shelby feels relief when they decide to sign a document turning full ownership over to her.  It takes only two weeks for Gray to start cleaning up the financial books.  Shelby just hopes she can protect her heart during this interim.  Unfortunately, most of Shelby’s family and a lot of people in town dislike Gray.  However, when Gray discovers that the store is definitely in financial trouble, Shelby must start working with him in order to save her grandmother’s store!

When Shelby and Gray decide to renew their relationship, most of the people in town are against it.  After a shot is fired into Gray’s home narrowly missing him, Gray feels like he must leave town to keep Shelby and her family safe!

Hold tight to see if these two are ever able to move forward together!

Out of Time

 

Out of Time, by Irene Hannon, opens with anthropologist Cara Tucker on her way to a country estate to look into some age-old journals.  When she arrives, she discovers Natalie Broyer, the woman she will be working on this project, has fallen from a dizzy spell.  The paramedics and police have arrived to check things out.  When Natalie refuses treatment, Brad Adams, the local sheriff, asks Cara to keep her eye on things in case something serious is going on!

Not too long into the pages of this tale, you learn that several people have sinister thoughts about getting their hands on the journals and other items that belong to Natalie.  They also know that Cara may get in the way!

When Natalie’s property caretaker winds up dead, Cora and Brad have their hands full trying to discover what is going on.  They are not only trying to solve a crime, but they are also trying to handle the feelings that are growing between them!

Get ready for action when the last person you would expect ends up having deadly intentions!

Perilous Tides

 

On the opening pages of Perilous Tides, by Elizabeth Goddard, you meet Jo Catrell, a forensic artist who is in hiding.  She has been hiding for the past three years.  Now her first glimpse at the world she left behind is making Jo a bit uneasy!

After traveling into town to meet her father (who does not show up), Jo sees something she will not soon forget.  An individual is killed just steps from her.  When the car she is in is suddenly pushed off the ferry, Jo can see her death coming quickly.  Her ex, Cole Mercer, is also on the ferry and before you know it, he is diving in the save her!

This is an exciting and fast-placed tale.  Not only are Jo and Cole attempting to discover who is out to eliminate Jo, they are also  trying to discover where her father is hiding.   When Jo’s home, lying secretly in the woods, suddenly explodes, you know this tale has made a serious turn!

As with all Elizabeth Goddard’s tales, you hold tight until the final pages when the culprit is finally revealed!

Broncos and Ballads

 

Broncos and Ballads, by Jody Hedlund, continues her Healing Springs Ranch series.  This tale involves Brock McQuaid.  He is a famous cowboy, who is suddenly in a bit of trouble with the media.  Because of Brock’s breakup with another famous country star, he is now considered a failure at love.  Brock must quickly work at turning around this negative mark on his reputation!

As Brock is trying to lie low and stay out of public view, he finds himself coming to the rescue of Venus Vargas, a beautiful supermodel.  When Venus makes a comment implying that they are a couple, Brock knows he just landed in more hot water!

When Brock’s manager decides he needs to ‘fall-in-love’ to get out of the hot-water he is in, his manager also immediately thinks that Venus is the answer.  Brock is not so sure.  This tale is about to get very interesting!

Spurs and Sparks

 

Spurs and Sparks, by Jody Hedlund, begins her Healing Springs Ranch series.  When Tyler McQuaid’s seven-year-old son questions him about the lack of a woman in his father’s life.  Tyler definitely does not know how to answer that question.  He had been managing the family ranch ever since he graduated from college, so his life is already full enough.  However, when his father is suddenly injured, Tyler’s focus must change!

When Tyler hears the words pancreatic cancer, he immediately scrambles to locate a cure.  As they set up palliative care for his father, Tyler has no idea that the nurse who will be brought may just change his life in ways he never imagined.  The nurse, Kinsey Wingrove, is in control of the sickroom and just simply too pretty!

It is interesting to watch Tyler and his father make a vow to each other.  His father promises he will work his hardest to improve his heath as long as Tyler focuses on finding the love of his life.  You soon get the sense that his family is hoping this woman will be Kinsey!

It is fun to see what direction Tyler takes to locate the person with whom he would walk with through life!

Final Approach

 

Final Approach, by Lynette Eason, opens with Air Marshal Kristine Duncan on her way to a much-needed vacation, with several close friends, including FBI Special Agent Andrew Ross.  Unfortunately, she must jump into action when a hijacker shows up on her plane and causes havoc!

After the plane safely lands, Kristine learns more details about the hijacker, Marcus Brown.  The father of three, he is a man you would never suspect.

However, when Marcus suddenly winds up dead, you know this tale just became much more serious!

As Andrew and Christine dig into the details regarding Marcus’s death and so many other things, you will be surprised to learn who is behind all.  It is also interesting to watch, as both Andrew and Christine struggle to determine if they are just working a case together or if they truly want to move their relationship to a new level!

The Lighhouse at the Cove

 

The Lighthouse at the Cove, by Amy Clipston, opens with Kaiah Ross traveling through coastal North Carolina.  She is a travel journalist documenting great spots for her readers to visit.  Her car suddenly indicates that all is not well.  As Kaiah slowly drives into Coral Cove looking for a car repair shop, she has no idea what she will encounter!

Kaiah’s first thought is that this town looks like one out of a storybook.  After she gets her car set up for repair, she meets Reid Turner, her uber driver, and she cannot turn her eyes away.  This handsome man has lived in Coral Cove his entire life and is also a full-time firefighter.  Kaiah knows she will not be able to forget this man anytime soon.  Kaiah simply describes him as Mr. Tall, Dark and Handsome, TDH for short!

Unfortunately or maybe not, Kaiah has a lengthy stay in town until her car is repaired.  When Kaiah volunteers to help prepare for the town’s annual festival, she and Reid end up spending a lot of time together.  Before you know it, it seems as if something may be going on between these two!

When Kaiah’s car is finally repaired, she must make a tough decision.  Will she move ahead with opportunities to further her writing career or stay in Coral Cove with this man she has come to love?  It is fun to see the ending of this tale!
