The Wood's Edge

The Wood's Edge, written by Lori Benton, tells a story of the early days of the United States history.  You meet Major Reginald Aubrey as he and his wife deal with the trauma of the fighting at Fort William Henry in the year 1757.

The Major's wife, Heledd, has just delivered their baby.  Unfortunately, the baby does not survive!  Next, Reginald makes a decision that will follow them for the rest of their lives:  he replaces his dead baby for a living child of an abandoned woman who has just delivered twin boys:  one child white, like herself and the other one brown, like her Indian husband!

This white baby is named William as he enters his new family and quickly gains a sister, Anna, when a young girl is found in the ashes of Fort William with no parents.  This tale is interesting as you watch a young boy growing up with a mother who adores him and a young girl who is the apple of her father's eye!

The story gets very interesting when you see how this Indian family deals with the loss of their young son.  It is beautiful to see how they each have a life changing encounter with the God of this universe!

It is exciting to see how these two families are interwoven when they finally meet and how they each must trust in their God to bring things together for His glory!

A Stranger's Secret

As she works to help David Chastain stay alive, she learns that he has come to Cornwall to discover how and why his father was recently murdered.  This mystery grows when two attempts are made to take David's life as well!

This tale gets very complicated as both Morwenna and David search to discover who is behind all this activity.  They must continually watch their backs as they hunt for the killer!

Together with You

Together with You, the latest novel by Victoria Bylin, is so much more than the cover of this book implies.

Carly Mason is managing a toy store at the mall when she hears the Lost Child warning being broadcast over the mall's PA system. When Carly finds the child in her store she immediately recognizes that the child is suffering from fetal alcohol syndrome disorder. As a former social worker, her heart immediately goes out to this child in need.

Carly is soon hired by the child's father, Ryan Tremaine, to work as a nanny to Penny. This is an interesting journey with Carly and Ryan, as they deal with both the challenges that FASD brings as well as their growing feelings for each other!

I'm glad I took the time to go on this adventure and see how God can take broken lives and make something beautiful!
