Gone South

Gone South by Meg Moseley is an interesting tale about a young woman looking for a life change.  Tish McComb was living out her life in Michigan after the tragic death of her fiancé. 

When her mother and future stepdad decide to make a move to Florida, Tish takes time off to help them move.  Part of her plan for adventure on her trip is to stop in Noble, Alabama on her way home.  The former home of her great-great-great grandparents, Nathan and Leticia McComb is for sale and Tish hopes to have a chance to get inside and take a look into their lives.

Once she arrives, she does more than look-she decides to buy it!  The sale of the house is not without conflict as she talks the seller into a lower price that she can afford.  The old North vs. South feelings are awakened! 

Once Tish makes her final move to Noble, she finds that there are no warms feelings for the McComb family.  Tish had always heard wonderful stories about Nathan and Leticia growing up.  But now Tish has only one friend in town, George Zorbas, the local antique dealer.

You will enjoy this story as Tish and George deal with the town’s prejudice and learn the real story of Nathan and Leticia!

Once Upon a Prince

Once Upon a Prince by Rachel Hauck opens with Susanna walking down the beach with Adam.  He has been the man in her life for the last 12 years, but the words “I can’t marry you” crush all of Susanna’s dreams of happily ever after.  She must begin again! 

Next thing you now, Susanna meets Nate, who is visiting St. Simon’s Island.  Once she learns that Nate is actually, Prince Nathaniel, the complexity of royalty just rolls in.  All the new people to meet and all the rules to follow!

This is an interesting tale as Susanna and Prince Nathaniel learn about each other and learn about trusting God as they walk down the path of falling in love!!!

Bending Toward The Sun

The novella, Bending Toward the Sun by Mona Hodgson, tells the story of Emilie as she is trying to find her way in the world.

She lives alone with her father after her mother’s death.  She has been assisting her father with running their general store in town.  Her father thinks sending her to school will bring her a better life, but her heart’s desire is only to stay near her friends and the people she loves!

The plot thickens when Quaid McFarland returns to town.  This young man who returns from war looks much different from the boy Emilie knew before.  Her heart is drawn to this young man; unfortunately, her father has a prejudice against Quaid’s Irish roots.

Emilie heart is torn between love for her father and a growing feeling for Quaid.  Take a journey as Emilie and Quaid learn about waiting on God’s timing in life!

Though My Heart Is Torn

The novel, Though My Heart is Torn by Joann Bischof, continues the tale of Gideon and Lonnie.  This couple was introduced in Be Still My Soul.  Their tumultuous relationship ended in a peaceful way following the birth of their son, Jacob.

Though My Heart is Torn begins with Gideon and Lonnie being called home by Lonnie’s father with the news of her mother’s imminent death.  They hurry back to town only to find Lonnie’s mother alive and well!  Lonnie’s father’s deception was an attempt to bring Gideon back to town to pay for past mistakes.

Before Gideon had been forced to marry Lonnie, he had married Cassie Allan to make amends for dishonoring her.  Gideon had believed that Cassie had annulled the marriage.  Now he finds that she did not and he actually has 2 wives!  Cassie’s family demands that he corrects the problem by dissolving his marriage to Lonnie and remarrying Cassie.  The pastors involved with these marriages demand that this is the best answer to the problem.  This decision breaks the hearts of both Lonnie and Gideon!  Gideon wants to run, but Lonnie decides she must let go of her love and try to rebuild her life.

Sit back and watch as these young people try to sort out this challenge that has been laid before them!

Grave Consequences

The novel Grave Consequences by Lisa T. Bergren begins with Cora Diehl learning that her father is not her birthfather.  She is the daughter of Wallace Kensington, a wealthy copper baron.  She soon joins her half siblings and their wealthy friends on a grand tour of Europe. 

This is where the mystery begins.  An attempted kidnapping of Cora takes place in Paris.  The Kensington children along with their friends and tour guides continue on the grand tour having to constantly look over their shoulders for the men who are after them.

You will remain on the edge of you seat as you read this book greatly anticipating the ending!

The House That Love Built

The House that Love Built by Beth Wiseman takes place in Smithville, Texas.  Brooke Holloway runs the local hardware store in this small town.  She is still having trouble adjusting to her husband’s absence following his death two years ago.

Owen Saunders has fled the big city to start over following his divorce.  The small town of Smithville seems just the place.  He has purchased an old mansion and intends to restore it to its former glory.  

Owen’s and Brooke’s paths are sure to cross in this interesting tale of how these two begin to recover from tremendous losses in their lives!
