The Bridge to Belle Island

Julie Klassen
tells an interesting story in her latest book, The Bridge to Belle Island.  When a partner in his law firm is found dead, Benjamin Booker is called in to investigate and to try to discover the root cause of this death.  Benjamin is drawn to Belle Island to find out if the dead man's niece, Isabelle Wilder, is involved in any way.  The main problem is that Isabelle has not left the island in over ten years!

Isabelle's fear of leaving the island is wrapped up in the fact that death has met many of her family the moment they took a step off the island.  You will see Benjamin step in a comfort Isabelle, when she has a physical reaction the moment she places a foot on the bridge to try to make an exit!

After Benjamin and Belle get to know each other, you wonder where this new relationship will take them.   Will Benjamin discover that Belle is actually involved in her uncle's death or will a new culprit suddenly appear?

I received a e-copy of this book from Bethany House. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

The Way of the Brave

Susan May Warren's latest series, Global Search and Rescue, starts off with a bang.  The Way of the Brave will introduce you to Orion Starr and Jenny Calhoun.  Orion, a pararescue jumper, amd Jenny, a CIA profiler and a psychiatrist, initially meet through their work with the US military overseas.  Once back in the states, Orion and Jenny surprisingly run into each other again.  Jenny and her girlfriends have decided to attempt climbing Mt. Denali, in Orion's backyard, Alaska.  Unfortunately for Jenny and Orion, they are both carrying deep hurts from the last time they meet!

This tale is full of action, page after page.  I could not put the book down until I learned what happened to these women.  The situations that arise will make you think twice about ever attempting such a feat.  In typical Susan May Warren style, she leaves a tip about the next books in this series that will have you hooked to keep reading!

I received this e-book from Revell in exchange for my honest review.

Collateral Damage

Collateral Damage is the latest from Lynette Eason.  This story opens with a view of the lives of Brooke Adams and Asher James.  Brooke is serving as a military psychiatrist in the army.  She is stationed in Afghanistan and she is ready to go home.  Asher is also working in Afghanistan, as Army Special Ops, and seems to often be in the middle of enemy warfare.  On the day that Brooke gets caught in the midst of enemy fighting, luckily Asher is nearby to carry her out of the flames!

After Brooke returns to the states to be treated for her 2nd-degree burns, she finally ends up in North Carolina trying to settle into a normal routine.  It has been four months since her military tour oversees; however, the nightmares and the PTSD are not going away.  Asher, also struggling with PTSD, ends up at Brooke's new work place, looking for help.  Asher and Brooke have no idea that their lives are about to get intertwined once again.  The moment Asher enters Brooke's new office and encounters the office receptionist dead on the floor, he knows the world of his nightmares has followed him home!

This is a fast-action tale as Brooke and Asher try to discover who is out to get Brooke.  There seems to be possible death around every corner as they try to stay ahead of Brooke's stalker.  The conclusion to this tale is beyond anything you would ever imagine!

Sarah is a typical type-A way of doing life, while Justin is definitely a free spirit.  You have no idea how these total opposite personalities will ever find a way to relate!
