Wait for Me, by Jody Hedlund, opens with Dawson Huxham standing over his sister’s coffin. He feels responsible for Sybil’s death and he can hardly believe that she is gone. As he discusses her job of investigating ancient waters with her former boss, Dawson realizes that this holy water may have been in the empty bottle found next to her dead body. Sybil had given Dawson a bottle of this water hoping it would bring healing to his war-damaged body. When Dawson rubs inside her bottle and licks his finger, he is suddenly in a new world looking at both his mother and his sister in medieval attire!
When Dawson is almost immediately sent back to current day, all he can focus on is finding a way back to his family. After he is attacked by several men in his home, Dawson knows it is connected to the ancient water. On his next journey to the past, he meets Philippa Neville. This beautiful young woman is in desperate need of help. Dawson suggests she seek out his mother, Lady Wilkin. Then yet again he is whisked back to current day!
It seems Dawson and Philippa are separated by several hundred years, as you see them interact in both the Middle Ages and current day. You wonder what the conclusion of this tale will be. Hold on for a wild ride!
I received this e-book from Judy Hedlund in exchange for my honest review.
