On Moonberry Lake, by Holly Varni, begins with Cora Matthews standing alone at her mother’s funeral. Her passing has left Cora struggling to make one tear fall. She has felt abandoned by her family for years. Her mother’s death was a surprise to Cora; however, her mother knew this day was coming.
