The Memory House

I absolutely loved Rachel Hauck's latest book, The Memory House.  This is a tale you will not be able to put down!

On the opening pages of this book, you will meet NYPD cop, Beck Holiday, as she is chasing down a drug dealer.  After Beck takes out her frustration on the perpetrator, she is placed on a month-long leave, with no pay!

Beck's life is further complicated when she receives news that she has been given an inheritance from Everleigh Applegate, a woman she does not even remember!

As you learn more details about Beck's life, including the fact that she has struggled with memory loss ever since her father's death on 911, you will also learn more about Everleigh Applegate's own life struggles.

As you bounce between present day and the 1950s, you will be surprised by all of the facts that tie these two women together.  This is definitely a tale you will not want to miss!

The Unexpected Champion

Mary Connealy wraps up her High Sierra Sweethearts series in The Unexpected Champion.  This latest tale will concentrate primarily on Penny Scott and John McCall.  John is a Pinkerton agent, who has travelled west on a job.  He has been paid to return Penny's nephew, Ronnie to his East Coast grandparents.  The truth is no one in Penny's family will willing let go of this little boy!

After Penny and John return the body of Raddo, the outlaw who had been out to destroy Penny's family, they are soon kidnapped in this small western town.  This group of kidnappers seem to have vengeance on their minds!

Hold on tight to see where this tale will take you.  When Penny and John find themselves in all sorts of difficult situations, including being forced to marry each other, you have no idea what to expect next!

It is interesting to see how all the pieces of this tale come together by the final page!

I received a copy of this book from Bethany House through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Glory Road

Lauren Denton tells the stories of three different women in one book entitled Glory Road.  On the opening pages, you meet Lauren McBride, a divorced mother, trying to run her own business, while caring for her fourteen-year-old daughter, Evan, and her sixty-nine-year-old mother, Gus!

Evan is just beginning her teenage years with all the complications that this time brings.  Unfortunately, Gus is experiencing the initial days of struggling with memory lapses!

This book is broken down into chapters about each character: Lauren, Evan and Gus.  You will get an up close look, as these three southern women learn to deal with the changes in their lives as they live out their lives on old Glory Road!

Courting Mr. Emerson

Courting Mr. Emerson is the latest from Melody Carlson.  You will meet Mr. Emerson on the opening pages of this tale.  George Emerson is finishing up his thirty years as a high school English teacher.  The world has changed so much that he is ready to close this door.  As George begins to think about how he will spend his retirement years, he crosses paths with Willow West.  This woman is the polar opposite of George.  Willow, who formerly lived on a commune, does not fit into George's OCD world!

It is interesting to watch how Willow, now a Christian, works to befriend this troubled man.  You will learn about all the troubles that both Willow and George have endured; and soon see how God will show up and make change in their lives!

Will George and Willow remain friends, or will their relationship grow into something much greater?

Daughters of Northern Shores

Daughters of Northern Shores, by Joanne Bischof, continues the tale of the Norgaard brothers.  You learned of Thor Norgaard in the first tale, Sons of Blackbird Mountain.  This second tale discusses the journey of Haaken Norgaard.  After Haaken offends Thor's soon-to-be wife, Aven, he runs away to sail the high seas!

Following  several years of sailing around the world, Haaken finally decides to return home, hoping to find forgiveness.  Unfortunately, when Haaken shows up unannounced at the family orchard, instead of open arms, he finds his family ready to go to battle with the Norgaard's neighbors!

Even though the year is 1895 and the Civil War is long over, their neighbors still want to carry on with the Confederate mindset.  Now the Norgaard's feel that their families are in danger, as well!

Hang on to see the battle that actually breaks out on their mountain.  As Haaken dives in to protect his family, at all costs, his mind cannot keep from wandering back to the beautiful widow he left behind in the countryside of Norway.  This high-paced tale will come to an interesting conclusion!
