Silent Shadows

Silent Shadows, by Natalie Walters, is an interesting tale, with a bit of mystery and unknown thrown in along the way.  Pecca Gallegos is a nurse working with patients needing both physical and mental rehabilitation.  Colton Crawford is an Army veteran in need of assistance with his undiagnosed condition, caused during his years fighting overseas.  Colton is having trouble performing functions needed in everyday life.   His body will just not work correctly to perform normal activities!

Just when Pecca begins to make progress with Colton; unfortunately, her past shows up to bring uncertainty and fear into her life.  After her son, Maceo, was born, Pecca left her life in Texas to find a safe place to raise her son.  Pecca's life in Georgia has been quiet for years; however, signs keep showing up indicating that her former life is following her to this new safe location!

As you try to put the pieces together to discover who is behind this aggressive activity, you will not believe who the culprit is.  You wonder if Pecca will ever be able to find a life of safety.  The individual responsible is closer to Pecca than you ever would have imagined!

One Little Lie is a new tale from Colleen Coble and it is overflowing with suspense.  You will meet Jane Hardy, a newly appointed sheriff in Pelican Harbor, Alabama.  What you do not realize at first is that Jane was part of a cult in her formative years. Jane’s father helped her escape when she was only fourteen years old!

It is now fifteen years later and on the first day of her new job, Jane must deal with Reid Bechtol, famous for his work on documentaries, as he is in town to work on a piece about small-town sheriffs.  Before Jane and Reid realize it, they are both caught up in the details of several deaths that have occurred in her little town!

In the midst of all the chaos of trying to find a reason behind these deaths, Jane must deal with painful memories of her time in the cult.  Not only did her mother stay behind, but her father told her day-old baby had died.  She cannot help but blame God for the situation.  You will not believe how these memories involve not only Jane, but Reid as well.  Hold on until the final page to see some of the details come together!

Lake Season

Lake Season is a new tale from Denise Hunter.  I did not have to travel far on the pages of this book to know that it could easily be her next Hallmark movie.  After their parents are killed in a car accident, the Bennett siblings decide to move forward with their parents plan of transforming their historic home into an inn.  Molly and her older brother, Luke, give up on their career plans to try to fulfill their parents dream!

When Adam Bradford suddenly shows up at the inn looking for a place to stay, Molly has no idea that he is actually her favorite author, Nathaniel Quinn.  Adam is not ready to share who he really is with the world.  When Molly discovers a piece of lost mail in the walls of their home, she has a new project to pursue.  It does not take long for Adam to be pulled into the mystery of who these two unknown individuals may be!

This is an interesting tale, as Molly and Adam search high and low for these lovers from long-ago.  You wonder all along: how long will Adam be able to keep his identity a secret from Molly.  You will not believe what Molly and Adam discover on the final pages of this tale!

Out of the Embers

Out of the Embers by Amanda Cabot is a book filled with a bit of suspense and unknown.  This tale opens with Evelyn Radcliffe walking the streets of Gilmorton, Texas with Polly, a young girl from the orphanage where Evelyn works.  She suddenly gets a sense that someone is watching her.  She has given this man the name of The Watcher.  She has often felt followed by this man and it frightens her.  As Evelyn and Polly finally reach their home, they look up ahead to see the entire building on fire!

Evelyn instantly feels the need to run.  She must find a safe place for herself and Polly.  After several days of traveling, they finally end up in Mesquite Springs, Texas.  When Wyatt Clark, a local horse rancher, rescues them in the midst of a storm, Evelyn gets a sense that this a place they can call home.  Evelyn and Polly slowly begin to rebuild their lives.  When Evelyn opens up a restaurant in town,  she finally begins to feel a measure of peace!

One day as Evelyn is walking Polly to school, she yet again gets the the sense that someone is watching her.  Panic sets in.  What will she do?  Has her friendship with Wyatt grown to the point that he will be able to help?  Watch and see as the details begin to come out.  There is much more to the story than Evelyn ever imagined!

The Runaway Bride

The Runaway Bride, by Jody Hedlund, is an exciting tale.  Arabella Lawrence is a wealthy woman, just past her bloom, who feels like she must flee her home, after the elderly man, who is her fiance, physically abuses her.  In the hopes to find an appropriate man to wed, Arabella is soon on a bride ship heading to Canada!

Soon after Arabella arrives at Vancouver Island, she encounters two men who may be the possibility.  One is Lieutenant Richard Drummond, who checks all the boxes of being an outstanding gentleman, and the other is Peter Kelly, the baker in town, who seems to draw out much of Arabella's high spirits.  Watch as Arabella must decide which man is truly the one for her!

Arabella struggles for awhile with the thought that in this new land, she is free to give up the rules of old England and instead pursue the place where her heart and dreams lead her.  It is interesting to see the transformation that occurs in Arabella and discover which man finally claims her heart!

The final pages of this book will bring a great reunion for one of the main characters!
