Engraved on the Heart

Engraved on the Heart is the debut novel from Tara Johnson.  Keziah Montgomery has grown up as the only daughter of a wealthy family in the Confederate South.  In the days leading up to the Civil War, Keziah has a sense that her world is about to change.  When she crosses paths with an old schoolmate, Micah Greyson, Kezia sees that the change is surely on its way!

Micah, who is now a doctor, comes to Kezia's assistance, when she experiences a seizure at a dance in her hometown of Savannah, Georgia.  While most people run in fear when they view a seizure, Micah stands by her side and wants to help!

Not only does Micah offer medical advice, but he invites Keziah to a meeting where details of the Underground railroad are discussed.  Kezia had grown up with slaves in her home; however, she had always had a soft spot in her heart for each life!

Before you know it, Kezia becomes actively involved with helping to deliver these lives on a path toward freedom.  You worry every time Kezia steps out in the darkness of night.  Will she safely make her delivery or will her family or friends discover the activity that Kezia is involved in?

This tale will remind you of the dark history of our world, and the lengths to which people went in order to save the lives of those who were oppressed!
